Jenner & Block Honored with Partner of the Year Award by CDEL

The Center for Disability and Elder Law (CDEL) honored Jenner & Block with the “Partner of the Year Award” at their 2024 Winter Awards Benefit for providing “exceptional assistance and volunteer support to CDEL and its clients.”

In 2023, the firm provided pro bono and financial support on an important CDEL case that involved a disabled individual who was at risk of losing full ownership of his home. The case – which proceeded to a one-week bench trial in the Circuit Court of Cook County - was complex and required the assistance of both American Sign Language and Certified Deaf Interpreters.

Partners Lina Powell and Andrew Merrick represented the client in trial on a pro bono basis. Associate Elizabeth Powers helped the team prepare for trial.

“The entire team was fantastic. The trial took place over four days, and the firm spent over 200 hours on the preparation, trial, and post-trial pleadings,” CDEL said.

The firm is a sponsor of the CDEL’s annual fundraiser: 2024 CDEL Light up the Loop Winter Awards Benefit.
