Areas of Focus
A first-chair trial lawyer, Andrew Merrick represents companies and individuals in wide-ranging, complex contract and business disputes. Andrew’s experience includes everything from breach of contract, trade secret misappropriation, deceptive trade practices and other business torts to claims arising under the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC).
Andrew excels in case management, determining a strategy and developing and managing a budget. An excellent communicator, he presents information and arguments clearly and succinctly, winning over judges and juries alike. Andrew strongly believes in performing an objective preliminary case assessment at the outset of any matter. He analyzes the key facts, legal issues and client objectives. Then he develops an overall strategy focused on proper staffing, a workable budget and achieving the client’s objectives. Andrew’s experience extends to resolving cases in domestic and international arbitration forums.
His diverse clientele includes aerospace, energy, financial services, food and beverage, government contracts and grants, hospitality, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, real estate and construction, technology and transportation companies from across the US. Andrew also maintains an active pro bono practice representing indigent clients. He has successfully defended a client charged with first-degree murder, secured asylum for a victim of gender violence in Tanzania and successfully resolved claims of excessive force against law enforcement.
Clients need a fierce advocate, but they also need their counsel to be candid with them about the strengths and weaknesses of their case. I serve my clients on both fronts.
