Partners Rachel Alpert and Rob Dalling to Participate in Global Economics Sanctions Conference

Partners Rachel Alpert and Rob Dalling will each moderate a panel at the Global Economics Sanctions Conference in London from November 12 to 13.

Rachel’s session on November 12, titled “Managing Expanding Secondary Sanctions Risk: Navigating Extraterritorial Exposure, Civil Liability and Global Enforcement Reach,” will examine how secondary sanctions and extraterritorial measures are creating significant exposure for companies operating across jurisdictions, and how indirect dealings, third-party relationships, and cross-border activity can trigger liability even without direct engagement.

Rob’s session on November 13, titled “Responding When Things Go Wrong: Managing Sanctions Breaches, Internal Investigations and Engagement with Enforcement Authorities,” will focus on real-world response strategies, remediation steps, and how organizations can navigate high-stakes enforcement scenarios when a potential sanctions breach arises.

As Co-Chair of the firm’s National Security and Crisis Practice and Human Rights and Global Strategy Practice, Rachel guides multinational companies and institutions through US sanctions, export controls, and national security regulations. Drawing on her experience as Chief Counsel at the US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), where she led the legal team advising on US sanctions enforcement, Rachel helps clients understand not only what the law requires, but how policy is shaped and implemented across government.

Rob advises international companies and individuals in regulatory and criminal matters, drawing on more than a decade as a trial lawyer prosecuting and defending serious criminal cases. He has particular experience in financial and trade sanctions and export controls, and his extensive courtroom experience informs his counsel in internal and external investigations into misconduct.
