The National Law Journal Profiles Jenner & Block as Washington, DC Law Firm of the Year

In the Q&A, Lindsay described the firm’s approach as building multidisciplinary teams that bring together appellate, regulatory, trial, and government experience, and investing early in talent so that associates argue cases rather than supporting from the background. She also pointed to the firm’s practice of learning clients’ businesses in depth, giving candid advice, and preparing thoroughly.

Lindsay highlighted two of the firm’s most significant matters from the past year. In Chatrie v. United States, the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that the Fourth Amendment applies to geofence warrants, a decision with nationwide consequences for law enforcement and the technology industry. The firm also led the DC-based team defending federal research funding for a coalition of universities after the National Institutes of Health, Department of Energy, Department of Defense, and National Science Foundation each moved to cap indirect cost reimbursements at 15%. The team sued within days of each policy and preserved hundreds of millions of dollars in funding for research spanning cancer, energy science, defense partnerships, quantum computing, and artificial intelligence.

Asked what advice she would offer other firm leaders, Lindsay emphasized investing in people and building trust through honest conversations, so that teams are ready to face challenges together.

Two Jenner lawyers were also honored at the awards. Partner Adam Unikowsky was named Appellate Attorney of the Year, and Partner Katie Wynbrandt was named a Rising Star in Appellate.
