Jenner & Block Honors 2026 Pro Bono Awards Recipients

Jenner & Block continued its longstanding tradition of recognizing exceptional pro bono service at the firm's 2026 Pro Bono Awards Ceremony, honoring lawyers and professional staff who exemplify the firm's core commitment of expanding access to justice through zealous advocacy. The recipients represent the breadth of Jenner's pro bono work across all offices and practice areas, demonstrating how dedicated legal service can make meaningful impact.

Albert E. Jenner Pro Bono Award

Established in 2002, the Albert E. Jenner Pro Bono Award honors firm lawyers who demonstrate an exceptional commitment to providing pro bono legal services. The 2026 award recipients are:

  • Partner Jan Larson for leading Jenner teams across offices to provide prompt insurance advice to multiple clients who lost their homes in the LA wildfires, securing homeowner insurance coverage critical to providing temporary living expenses and rebuilding their homes.
  • Partner Lindsey Lusk for logging nearly 600 pro bono hours across six separate matters in a single year, including her representation of a client with a terminal cancer diagnosis in a Section 1983 matter.
  • Associate Ben Seelig for his deep and sustained commitment to pro bono work on behalf of immigrants, including a long history of representing children seeking Special Immigrant Juvenile Status. Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) recognized his work with their Pro Bono Advocate of the Year Award in 2025.

Award for Excellence in Pro Bono or Public Service

The winner of the Jenner & Block Award for Excellence in Pro Bono or Public Service, established in 2018 to honor professional staff, is Paralegal Kenyon North. Kenyon served as a core member of multiple pro bono teams, providing critical support to incarcerated individuals suffering unconstitutional conditions of confinement and prisoners being held beyond their release time.

Tom Sullivan Lifetime Achievement Pro Bono Award

Former Partner Mike Brody is the recipient of the Tom Sullivan Lifetime Achievement Pro Bono Award. Mike has spent his career standing beside individuals who often had no one else to advocate for them, with a practice defined by criminal defense cases, habeas proceedings, appeals, death penalty litigation, and challenges to conditions of confinement. As his career progressed, Mike took over the firm's Seventh Circuit pro bono program, mentoring generations of associates in appellate matters and instilling in them the same commitment to client-centered, compassionate lawyering that has defined his own.  He retired from the firm in January 2026.

Pro bono is not a program at Jenner & Block — it is a practice. Last year, lawyers across our seven offices contributed over 78,000 pro bono hours in courtrooms, immigration hearings, international tribunals, and community organizations — turning legal challenges into opportunities for representation, advocacy, and justice.
