Kate Mather helps clients navigate a range of complex challenges at the intersection of law, policy, and regulation. Kate's practice spans high-stakes litigation, government-led investigations, and emerging regulatory issues at the state, federal, and international levels. As a member of the Global Hearing Preparation Practice, she draws on her legal training and journalism background to prepare clients for consequential appearances before government officials worldwide. She is also a member of the Government Controversies and Public Policy Litigation team.
Before joining Jenner & Block, Kate clerked for two years in the US District Court for the Northern District of California. She earned her JD from Berkeley Law, where she was Managing Editor of the California Law Review and Co-President of Women of Berkeley Law. During law school, she gained practical and policy experience through internships with the ACLU of Northern California, the East Bay Community Law Center, and The Policing Project.
Prior to her legal career, Kate was a journalist at the Los Angeles Times, where she was part of a Pulitzer Prize–winning team in 2016.
