Jenner & Block Helps OB-GYNs in Idaho Navigate the Post-Dobbs World
News

When the Dobbs decision was announced, Jenner & Block mobilized to help guide clients though the myriad issues at the intersection of law and policy. Partner Lindsay Harrison, working with Partner Aaron Cooper and associate Andrew Plague, is representing several obstetricians who have provided evidentiary support to the US Department of Justice’s lawsuit challenging the lawfulness of Idaho’s abortion ban.
One of their clients, Dr. Amelia Huntsberger, is an OB-GYN in Northern Idaho. In a recent episode of This American Life, called “When to Leave,” she discusses what it is like to work at a small, rural hospital post-Dobbs. Listen to her segment, “Act One: First, Do No Harm,” to learn about her decision to attempt to stay and build a coalition of OB-GYNs committed to advocating for policies that enable patient care. Unfortunately, despite her efforts, her hospital, Bonner General Health, recently announced that it will no longer provide obstetrical services to the city of more than 9,000 people, meaning patients will have to drive 46 miles for labor and delivery care moving forward.
