Former FCC Policymaker and Sprint Executive Trey Hanbury Joins Jenner & Block

Firm Expands Communications, Internet, and Technology Practice
WASHINGTON, DC – January 26, 2022 – Jenner & Block today announced that Trey Hanbury, a leading practitioner with experience in leadership roles at both the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and a major telecommunications company, will join as co-chair of the firm’s Communications, Internet, and Technology Practice (CIT), based in Washington, DC.
Mr. Hanbury’s clients range from major wireless companies to tech companies to satellite operators. He brings more than two decades of legal experience and a deep understanding of technology policy, helping companies solve their most pressing and complex issues. He counsels clients on regulatory advocacy and policymaking before the FCC,mergers and acquisitions, competition policy, interference resolution, spectrum allocations, network resiliency, and auction design.

Mr. Hanbury joins from Hogan Lovells in Washington, DC, where he was a partner for the past nine years. Previously, he was director of government affairs at Sprint, acting as regulatory counsel in major rulemaking proceedings, mergers and acquisitions, and cases before the FCC, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration of the Department of Commerce, the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security, Congress, and federal courts.
Before his time at Sprint, Mr. Hanbury held various policymaking positions at the FCC, including working on satellite and international telecom matters in the International Bureau. He also served as Special Counsel in the Office of General Counsel, where he was responsible for providing policy and legal advice to the Office of Chairman on wireless issues.

Symons, and Of Counsel Roger C. Sherman.
