Neil was selected for his work as the Independent Ombudsperson leading the investigation into Credit Suisse's historical ties to Nazi-era clients. In February 2026, Neil testified before the US Senate Judiciary Committee to present findings from the ongoing investigation. His testimony, which included a 75-page written statement, revealed previously unreported relationships between the bank and Nazi-era entities.

Neil co-chairs Jenner & Block's Monitorship Practice and counsels financial services companies, labor organizations, and other entities on government regulatory matters. In addition to his role as Independent Ombudsperson over the Credit Suisse Nazi-era investigation, he serves as the court-appointed monitor for the United Auto Workers and as government-appointed co-monitor of the New York City Housing Authority.
