Former EPA Senior Litigation Counsel Meghan Greenfield Joins Jenner & Block

Jenner & Block is pleased to announce that Meghan Greenfield has joined the firm as a partner in the Washington, DC office. Meghan brings a wealth of knowledge from her role as Senior Counsel for Litigation in the Office of General Counsel at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), where she oversaw major litigation and regulatory matters related to the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, waste and toxic chemicals laws, and energy transition policies.

"We are thrilled to welcome Meghan to Jenner & Block," said Co-Managing Partners Ishan Bhabha and Randy Mehrberg. "Her background in environmental regulation, litigation, and policy counseling will enhance our ability to advise clients navigating complex environmental and energy challenges. Meghan’s experience in government and private practice makes her a valuable addition to our team."

Prior to her tenure at the EPA, Meghan served as Senior Counsel for Appellate Matters in the Environment and Natural Resources Division of the US Department of Justice (DOJ), where she managed and personally litigated high-profile cases involving the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act, and the Toxic Substances Control Act, among others. She has argued nine cases before federal appellate courts, including six in the DC Circuit, and has supervised litigation teams on dozens of significant regulatory challenges in appellate and trial courts.

"Meghan’s arrival comes at a critical time in the evolving energy landscape," said Suedeen Kelly and Laurie Edelstein, Co-Chairs of the Energy Practice. "Her deep understanding of environmental regulation and litigation will help our clients navigate the shifting legal and policy frameworks that impact energy transition, regulatory compliance, and sustainability efforts."

Meghan will be joining the Energy Practice and Environmental and Workplace Health and Safety Practice. Her background spans a broad range of regulatory and litigation matters, including power sector environmental regulation, greenhouse gas regulation, chemical and hazardous substance regulation, federal preemption, and environmental justice issues.

"I am excited to join Jenner & Block and to apply my experience in environmental law and regulatory policy to help clients navigate emerging challenges in the energy and environmental sectors," said Meghan Greenfield. "Jenner’s commitment to excellence and its collaborative approach to problem-solving make this the ideal place to continue my practice."

Meghan holds a JD from Georgetown University Law Center and a BA from the University of Notre Dame. She previously clerked for Judge Adalberto Jordan (SDFL) and Judge Ferdinand Fernandez (Ninth Circuit).
