Partner Shoba Pillay will speak at a Chicago Bar Association (CBA) continuing legal education program titled, "From Awareness to Action: How Lawyers Can Combat Human Trafficking." The event is taking place in Chicago on January 14, 2026.
The program, held during National Human Trafficking Prevention Month, will explore how legal professionals across various practice areas can support the legal needs of survivors of human trafficking. The panel brings together leaders from the judiciary, prosecution, private practice, and federal agencies to discuss practical approaches that attorneys can take to combat this terrible and unrelenting problem.
Shoba Pillay is a former federal prosecutor and dynamic trial lawyer who leads complex internal and government-facing investigations and provides guidance on regulatory compliance programs. She leads pro bono matters advocating for survivors of human trafficking and exploitation seeking restitution. During her eleven years in the US Attorney's Office in the Northern District of Illinois, she prosecuted cases involving human trafficking and child exploitation among other matters, earning the Department of Justice John Marshall Award in 2022.
