“Law & Democracy Series: Election Law in the Supreme Court,” University of Nebraska College of Law
In her presentation, Partner Jessica Ring Amunson will discuss the US Supreme Court’s election law jurisprudence, including how that jurisprudence has evolved as the Court has changed in recent years. Focusing on two cases before the Court this term—Moore v. Harper and Merrill v. Milligan—Jessie will examine how the Court has treated claims that some voting laws or practices impose disparate burdens on racial or political minorities. She will also discuss how election law litigation proceeds to the Supreme Court, including a discussion of the Court’s “shadow docket.” Jessie’s presentation will be held on February 28, 2023, from 12:00 pm to 1:15 pm CT in the McCollum Hall Room at the University of Nebraska’s College of Law. Click here to learn more. Jessie is the Chair of the firm’s Election Law and Redistricting Practice and a Co-Chair of the Appellate and Supreme Court Practice. Along with Partner Sam Hirsch, she is representing the respondents in Moore v. Harper and is representing a group of amici in Merrill v. Milligan, both of which are currently pending before the US Supreme Court.
