Congressional and Other High-Profile Investigations, Association of Corporate Counsel – Nevada
On December 6, Partners Wade Thomson, Reid Schar, and Emily Loeb will join Association of Corporate Counsel – Nevada for a presentation about navigating complex, high-profile investigations. The panelists will discuss the unique challenges these investigations present and best practices for businesses.
Wade is a Co-Chair of the Business Litigation Practice and a member of the Management Committee. He has significant experience in high-stakes commercial disputes and government investigations around the world, practicing out of both the Chicago and London offices. He has long done work in the gaming industry, and serves as the co-chair of the Chicago Bar Association Gaming Committee. Wade served as one of the team leaders that conducted a significant internal review and produced a public report for the Chicago Blackhawks, investigating 2010 allegations of sexual assault by an assistant coach.
A fellow of the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers, Reid helps clients across a wide range of industries navigate complex issues at the intersection of investigations, litigation, regulation, and public perception. Reid's experience as a former Assistant US Attorney and in high-visibility situations like the Chicago Blackhawks sexual assault investigation, the General Motors ignition switch recall investigation, and the New Jersey "Bridgegate" investigation has made him a trusted strategist for individuals and businesses of every size, in every industry.
As Chair of the Congressional Investigations Practice and Co-Chair of our Government Controversies and Public Policy Litigation Practice, Emily leverages her deep government and crisis management experience to guide companies and institutions through multi-faceted investigations and congressional inquiries, often during times of intense media scrutiny. As a former Associate Deputy Attorney General at the US Department of Justice and a former Associate White House Counsel, she has extensive experience conducting internal investigations and devising holistic risk management strategies for clients. The National Law Journal profiled her as one of Washington, DC’s next generation of crisis management lawyers or “DC Fixers.”
