Associate Alexis Bates will moderate a panel that will delve into the thorny issues of potential conflicts surrounding prior representation of a client and establishing effective screens. Alexis will guide the conversation among a judge, magistrate judge, and law firm ethics officer.
The discussion will track the scenario presented in the Anderson Center Seventh Circuit Moot Court Competition, which will be argued in the Dirksen Federal Courthouse on March 8 and 9.
Alexis serves on the board of the Seventh Circuit Bar Association. In her pro bono practice, she has successfully argued cases before the Seventh Circuit as well as in immigration courts and federal district courts. In her private practice, she focuses on representing benefit plans, plan sponsors, plan service providers, and fiduciaries in litigation relating to the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA).
