May 12, 2025
Jenner & Block will be recognized with the United Way Corporate Leadership Award at United Way of Metro Chicago’s annual Stronger Neighborhoods Awards Luncheon on May 28.
Partner Andrew Vail, who has served as the General Counsel for the United Way Metropolitan Chicago since 2020, will accept the award, which recognizes long-term commitment to United Way and the communities it serves, and partners who have exemplified what it means to “Live United.”
United Way brings together businesses, government, nonprofits, and agency and community leaders to deliver funding, resources, and expertise to nonprofit organizations across greater Chicago. Co-Managing Partner Randy Mehrberg is on the Board of Directors for the organization.
Tickets for the event are available.
Jenner has worked with United Way on a number of projects, providing over 3,300 hours of work over the years. This work includes the 2-1-1 service launched in 2023 that connects Cook County residents in need of assistance with guidance via phone, text, web chat, and online database search. 2-1-1 can help residents connect with a variety of resources such as food, housing, utility payment assistance, and other free-to-low-cost health and social services.
The team’s work was led by Partner Pete Rosenbaum, who worked with Andrew and the United Way team for over a year on legal and related strategy in connection with the partnership to launch 2-1-1. That work included significant contributions from Randy; Partners Jeremy Casper, Kevin Collins, Shoba Pillay, David Robbins, Emma Sullivan, Anna Meresidis, Rob Rawn, and Sheila Kailus; Of Counsel Don Resnick; and Associates Abe Salander, Bill Erlain, Tyler Westrich, Solana Gillis, Jensen Troup, and Allyssa Milam. Senior Paralegal Mike Hughes supported the effort along with all of the firm’s United Way work.
Others who have provided support for United Way include Chicago Office Managing Partner Melissa Root; Partners Brian Boch, Geoff Davis, Steven Englund, Madeleine Findley, Martin Glass, Brian Hart, Brian Scarbrough, Alex May, Gail Morse, Matt Renaud, Peter Rosenbaum; Special Counsel Laura Pelanek; Practice Counsel Katya Lewandowska; Of Counsel Carter Klein; and Associates Joshua Davids, Katherine Funderburg, Beth Lloyd, H.
