Katya Lewandowska is a seasoned real estate professional with many years of experience in a variety of roles. Prior to becoming an Illinois lawyer, she worked for over 10 years as a commercial real estate paralegal, originally, for a mid-sized real estate developer, later, for one of the largest shopping center-owner REITs in the country, and with Jenner & Block since 2021. Katya has been part of legal teams that handled a multitude of real estate transactions related to the development, financing, and leasing of small and large shopping centers, malls, outparcel, office, retail, and mixed-use properties. She also has a strong leasing background that includes drafting and negotiating retail and office leases. As a holder of an MBA degree and as a former licensed Illinois real estate broker, she has a deep understanding of the practical aspects of real estate transactions. In addition to her law degree from DePaul University College of Law, Katya holds a Certificate in Business Law.
The scope of Katya’s legal real estate experience is wide, from an individual’s purchase of a home to the large multi-property portfolio deal. Her legal skills are versatile, from the somewhat technical review of a property title report and survey to a highly sophisticated analysis of a development agreements, a CC&R agreement, or a construction, operation, and reciprocal easement agreement.
Katya began her legal career as a corporate and real estate lawyer in Sofia, Bulgaria, where she is still licensed to practice law. She has had the unique opportunity to live and work in different countries on both sides of the Atlantic and remains multi-lingual to this today.
