Jenner & Block Japan Newsletter
Welcome to the October 2022 edition of the Jenner & Block Report, a newsletter containing updates about legal developments in the United States that may be noteworthy to our clients and other leaders in the Japanese legal and business communities.
Our report begins with the role that government filter teams play in criminal investigations, such as the role played by a team in earlier this year when documents were seized from the residence of the former president of the United States, Donald Trump. We also offer insight into matters of international and US interest, including the G7 Finance Ministers’ comprehensive ban on services enabling maritime transportation of Russian-origin crude oil and petroleum products, revisions to the US Department of Justice’s corporate criminal enforcement policies and practices, and recent US antitrust developments. Two new developments in California law are also profiled in this issue of the Newsletter: the California Age-Appropriate Design Code Act, regarding internet platforms that may be accessed by children under the age of 18; and the Advanced Clean Cars II regulation, a new rule requiring all new passenger vehicles sold within the state to be zero emissions by 2035. Our final article in this issue of the Newsletter provides a look at the role of bankruptcy courts in resolving mass tort claims.
We hope that you find the information in the Jenner & Block Report of interest, and we thank you for taking the time to review our publication.
