Jenner & Block Files Amicus Brief on Behalf of Leading Economists in Supreme Court Tariff Case
Jenner & Block filed an amicus brief before the Supreme Court of the United States on behalf of prominent economists in Learning Resources, Inc., et al. v. Donald J. Trump, President of the United States, et al. The brief provides economic analysis regarding emergency tariffs imposed by President Trump under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).
Jenner & Block filed an amicus brief before the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on behalf of a distinguished group of economists in V.O.S. Selections, Inc. v. Trump. The brief supports plaintiffs challenging President Trump's use of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to impose sweeping "reciprocal tariffs" on global imports.

The Non-Compete Competition: Washington State’s New Broad Ban on Non-Competes
Last month, Washington state passed Engrossed Substitute House Bill 1155 (SB 1155), legislation that bans virtually all non-compete agreements and significantly narrows the scope of permissible non-solicitation agreements in the state. The IEEPA Tariffs Are Gone: Now What?
On February 20, 2026, the Supreme Court issued a landmark decision in Learning Resources, Inc. v. Trump (No. 24-1287) and Trump v. V.O.S. Selections, Inc. (No. 25-250), holding 6-3 that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) does not grant the President authority to impose tariffs. The same day, President Trump issued an Executive Order rescinding IEEPA tariffs and directing agency heads to “terminate the collection” of those tariffs “as soon as practicable.”
