Chicago Bar Association Names Jenner & Block Law Firm of the Year

The Chicago Bar Association (CBA) has named Jenner & Block LLP as the recipient of its inaugural Law Firm of the Year Award, recognizing the firm’s exemplary leadership in the legal profession and its unwavering commitment to the rule of law, pro bono service, diversity, and innovation.

“We are delighted to recognize Jenner & Block with our 2025 Chicago Bar Association CBAY Award as our Law Firm of the Year recipient,” said CBA President John C. Sciaccotta. “Jenner’s courage and steadfast leadership is unmatched. The firm continues to honor the great legacies of partners including Bert Jenner, Jerry Solovy, Tom Sullivan, Judge Prentice Marshall, and many others through their laudable actions in the community and across the legal industry. Our CBA is most grateful and thankful for Jenner’s deep involvement and for the many contributions it has made and will continue to make to our association.”

Co-Chair of Jenner & Block’s Litigation Department and Education Practice and former CBA President, Terri L. Mascherin, accepted the award on behalf of the firm.

“Since our founding in downtown Chicago, we have shared a deep and meaningful relationship with the CBA—rooted in a mutual commitment to justice, service, and the rule of law,” said Terri. “This award affirms our core belief in standing firm for our clients, for the law, and for what is right. We thank the Chicago Bar Association for standing with us to defend those principles. It really matters when lawyers stand together.”

“Jenner & Block’s commitment to justice and public service remains as strong as ever,” said Chicago Office Managing Partner Melissa Root. “Our commitment to Chicago, the Chicago legal community, and the Chicago Bar Association has deep historical ties—shaped by trailblazing leaders like Judge Floyd Thompson, Jerry Solovy, Prentice Marshall, and Tom Sullivan—whose work helped establish a legacy that continues to define our firm today.”

For more than 110 years, Jenner has been a trailblazer in representing the rights and interests of our clients – both paying and pro bono. From defending prisoners’ rights and providing criminal defense to championing LGBTQ+ equality, the firm has consistently led the legal industry—often taking bold and principled stands before they were broadly accepted. That legacy of leadership endures today through the firm’s unwavering dedication to its clients, the rule of law, and the pursuit of justice.
