In June 2026, Adam secured a 6-3 ruling in Chatrie v. United States establishing that the Fourth Amendment governs geofence warrants, orders that compel technology companies to produce location data for every device within a defined area without identifying a specific suspect. In a majority opinion by Justice Kagan, the Court agreed with Adam’s argument that obtaining that data is a search. The decision sets out the framework for how law enforcement may use geofence warrants nationwide.

Earlier in the term, Adam won Rico v. United States, 8-1, persuading the Court that courts cannot automatically extend a defendant’s term of federal supervised release when she absconds. The ruling resolved a circuit split in which five courts of appeals had sided with the government, and it affects more than 109,000 individuals currently on federal supervised release.

Adam has argued 15 times before the Supreme Court, and his appellate practice spans securities, tribal, patent, civil rights, and constitutional law. He co-chairs Jenner’s AI Task Force and writes Adam’s Legal Newsletter on Substack, where he examines emerging legal issues and case analysis.
