Jenner & Block has been named a leader in pro bono in The American Lawyer's 2026 Pro Bono Report, ranking in the top three nationally and #1 internationally for a second consecutive year.
In 2025, the firm surpassed its five-year, $250 million pro bono commitment by more than $155 million, with 97% of Jenner lawyers contributing more than 50 hours of pro bono work. Jenner’s commitment to pro bono is reflected across the firm, with over 106% of the firm exceeding 20 hours of pro bono work—a mark of how core pro bono service is to Jenner’s DNA.
“At Jenner & Block, pro bono is more than just a number: it’s about the positive impact we have on the lives of our clients, their families, and communities,” said Co-Managing Partners Ishan Bhabha and Randy Mehrberg. “That impact is core to who we are as lawyers and what we do for our clients, paying and pro bono—a zealous commitment across the firm to justice and equal representation.”
Jenner lawyers took on hundreds of pro bono matters, including engagements involving civil rights, consumer fraud, elder law, family law, healthcare, and immigration. Outcomes included a life-changing settlement and statewide policy change protecting Native foster youth in California, and the release of a young green-card applicant who had been wrongfully detained.
“We are always proud of the consistent commitment our lawyers make to service,” said Pro Bono Committee Co-Chairs Megan Poetzel and Alison Stein. “Especially this year, when they displayed this commitment alongside another year of significant demand growth for the firm, to have over 106% of the firm exceeding 20 hours of pro bono work is an outstanding accomplishment and a reflection of Jenner’s commitment to pro bono service.”
Overall, in 2025, the firm saw a 7% increase in demand for its legal services in focus areas such as government controversies, complex litigation, and education.
