As governments worldwide intensify their oversight of the private sector, executives and organizations are increasingly called to appear before legislative bodies, public inquiries, and regulatory hearings. These high-profile moments require rigorous preparation and a strategic global approach to ensure consistency, clarity, and readiness across jurisdictions.
Building on our deep experience preparing clients for US Congressional investigations, Jenner & Block has formalized its Global Hearing Preparation Practice to help clients navigate these public forums with confidence. Founded by Partner Emily Loeb, a former Associate Deputy Attorney General at the US Department of Justice, the practice provides 360-degree preparation for executives and organizations appearing before government bodies worldwide.
Emily and Partner Sam Ungar have worked extensively to help private-sector leaders effectively prepare for testimony before government panels across multiple jurisdictions, including legislative bodies and regulatory inquiries in the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Australia, and South Korea. Through rigorous preparation and strategic guidance, they equip clients with the tools to navigate scrutiny with confidence, ensuring a clear, consistent, and well-executed approach across global forums.
The team also includes Partner Joanna Ludlam, who recently joined the firm to co-chair Jenner & Block’s Investigations Department and launch its London Public Law and Crisis Management Practice. Joanna brings extensive experience advising clients in public inquiries and legislative hearings, including before the UK Parliament.
"With governments across jurisdictions leveraging public hearings to shape policy and public opinion, the need for a consistent, well-prepared message—that carefully takes into account the legal threat landscape—has never been greater," said Emily. "This practice brings together legal, political, and communications strategies to ensure clients are fully prepared for their most high-stakes public appearances while mitigating risk to their brand and credibility."
Emily and Joanna recently spoke with Law360 about the evolution of public hearings and how Jenner & Block is helping clients navigate these critical moments.
