Jenner & Block Lawyers Author Copyright Analysis in Lexology Panoramic

Jenner & Block Partners Steve Englund and Andrew J. Thomas, and Special Counsel Lauren Greene authored the US analysis and introductory Global Overview in Copyright 2024, published by Lexology Panoramic.

“Governments globally are considering the copyright implications of the rapid rise in the availability, use and performance of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. A key issue is the extent to which national legislation recognises copyright protection for works generated in whole or in part through the use of AI.” The authors also note that “pending lawsuits in various countries raise questions about whether copyrighted works can be used to 'train' generative AI systems without the copyright owner’s consent.”

Jenner & Block achieved high national band rankings in the 2024 edition of Chambers USA in Intellectual Property: Trademark, Copyright & Trade Secrets, where it was recognized for advising “leading publishers, broadcasters and other content owners on how to protect and enforce copyrights and trademarks” and for its “strong trade secrets offering,” and was described as having “exceptionally strong subject matter expertise in complex and sophisticated issues.”
