Former DOJ Antitrust Division Counsel Jariel Rendell Joins Jenner & Block’s Antitrust and Competition Law Practice

Jenner & Block is pleased to announce that Jariel A. Rendell has joined as a Partner in its Washington, DC office, where he will play a key role in the firm’s Antitrust and Competition Law Practice.

Jariel brings extensive government enforcement experience from his tenure at the US Department of Justice Antitrust Division, where he most recently served as Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General. In this senior advisory role, he helped manage and litigate the Division's high-profile civil and criminal cases while playing a key role in building the Division's new litigation program.

During his tenure at the DOJ, Jariel advised on investigation priorities, enforcement decisions, and indictment recommendations across multiple presidential administrations. He guided negotiated resolutions, solved complex legal challenges, shaped policy issues and public messaging, and served as a liaison to the Federal Trade Commission.

Before his counsel role, Jariel served as a trial attorney in the Antitrust Division's Washington Criminal Section, where he developed substantial courtroom experience, taking two cases to trial and preparing for trial in two additional matters. Jariel also took multiple cases to trial in private practice before joining the DOJ.

“I look forward to drawing on my DOJ experience to solve the most complex antitrust litigation challenges for our clients at Jenner,” said Jariel.

Jariel clerked for Chief Judge William J. Riley on the US Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. He received his JD from Yale Law School and his MBA from Yale School of Management.
