Jariel Rendell is a leading antitrust litigator who brings significant government experience to his comprehensive practice. Having served at the Department of Justice (DOJ) across three presidential administrations, including both Trump administrations, he offers unique insights into evolving antitrust enforcement priorities and approaches.
As Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General in the Antitrust Division, Jariel helped manage and litigate high-profile civil and criminal cases, playing a key role in building the Division’s new Litigation Program. Serving in the Division’s front office, he advised senior leadership on investigation priorities, enforcement decisions, indictment recommendations, and resolution negotiations, while shaping policy changes and public messaging. He also worked with state attorney general partners and served as a liaison to the Federal Trade Commission regarding referrals to the Division.
As a prosecutor in the Division’s Washington Criminal Section, Jariel honed his skills in the courtroom, litigating cases from start to finish—from grand jury investigation to trial and sentencing—while collaborating with US Attorneys’ Offices and law enforcement agencies nationwide. He also led antitrust cartel investigations and served on the Division’s Procurement Collusion Strike Force, a multi-agency effort to combat antitrust crimes and related schemes affecting government procurement at the federal, state, and local levels.
Before joining the DOJ, Jariel was an associate at an AmLaw 100 firm, where he worked on several major trial teams, including a federal civil RICO and fraud bench trial and a federal criminal bribery and wire fraud trial. His experience includes defending Fortune 50 companies and banks in class actions, multi-forum commercial disputes, and other complex civil litigation involving fraud, RICO, breach of contract, products liability, False Claims Act, and consumer protection claims. He also tried numerous state criminal trials as a pro bono public defender.
Jariel clerked for Chief Judge William J. Riley on the US Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. He received his JD from Yale Law School and his MBA from Yale School of Management.
