On April 26, 2024, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) published the final HIPAA Privacy Rule to Support Reproductive Health Care Privacy (Final Rule). The Final Rule became effective June 25, 2024.

On December 6, Jenner & Block client Canadian National Railway Company (CN) closed on its acquisition of Iowa Northern Railway Company, a critical transportation network operating approximately 275 miles of track serving a mix of agricultural and industrial shippers in Iowa. The transaction involved the deposit of the controlling equity of Iowa Northern into a voting trust at closing, pending approval by the US Surface Transportation Board to the transaction.

On January 30, 2023, the Biden administration[1]  announced that on May 11, 2023 it plans to end the COVID-19 national emergency (Outbreak Period) and public health emergency (Public Health Emergency), which were declared by the Trump administration in 2020. Since their institution, the emergency declarations have been extended many times without indication of a true sunset.
