A former senior US Department of State Official, Ian Moss has deep experience working on complex, high stakes matters at senior levels of the US government that overlap with law, policy, regulation, and domestic and international public relations.
His work has regularly required engaging on issues with far-reaching implications for US national security and foreign policy with a range of stakeholders, including senior foreign government officials, policymakers and lawmakers, non-governmental organizations and civil society actors, and large private multinational companies. He has significant experience with and knowledge of how the Executive Branch operates, particularly those departments and agencies that comprise the larger foreign policy and national security enterprise.
Ian’s experience includes representing clients in civil and criminal litigation as well as helping clients navigate crisis situations where there are significant reputational risks, including those with an international dimension. He frequently has been called upon to brief and inform members of Congress and their staffs in the context of congressional inquiries and during moments of significant legislative oversight and public scrutiny. Additionally, he has experience working on issues related to online content, content moderation, and misuse of social media platforms and emerging technologies.
Ian previously served as Director for Human Rights and National Security Issues at the White House National Security Council. A Marine Corps veteran, he served on active duty as a cryptologic linguist in Spanish and Albanian. He holds a JD from George Washington University Law School, an MA in Political Science from Northeastern University, and a BA in Spanish from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
