Jenner & Block Supports Unaccompanied Children Ahead of Asylum Interviews
Jenner & Block partnered with the National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) for an all-day affidavit clinic supporting six unaccompanied children, each from a different country, as they prepared for upcoming asylum interviews.
A Jenner & Block team representing pro bono client Rose Thomas secured sanctions against the City of Harvey, Illinois, after the US Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois found the city willfully violated the discharge injunction by shutting off Ms. Thomas's water for 273 days following her Chapter 7 discharge.

Jenner & Block successfully defended its client Nuance Communications, Inc. before the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, which agreed that Nuance's voice authentication services for financial institution customers are exempt from the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA).

Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive: Five Key Questions Answered
On April 24, 2024, the European Parliament approved the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D). The directive, which must be formally endorsed by the Council of the European Union (EU) before officially becoming law, imposes a corporate due diligence standard for human rights and the environment. Companies found to violate the CS3D may be fined up to 5% of the company’s global net turnover.
