Jenner & Block Secures Seventh Circuit Victory for Nuance Communications in Biometric Privacy Case
Jenner & Block successfully defended its client Nuance Communications, Inc. before the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, which agreed that Nuance's voice authentication services for financial institution customers are exempt from the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA).
A Jenner & Block team secured a precedential ruling from the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit on behalf of pro bono client Brandon Timmons, an incarcerated person in a Pennsylvania state prison who alleged that a prison official retaliated against him for filing complaints against staff.
