Jenner & Block was named the Law Firm Honoree at Pro Bono Partnership's 29th Anniversary Gala on September 30 in New York City. The award recognizes a firm for its outstanding service to the community and its deeply rooted commitment to pro bono work. Pro Bono Partnership is a nonprofit organization that provides free business and transactional legal help to other nonprofits serving underrepresented people and strengthening neighborhoods across Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York.
The award was presented to Jenner by Elizabeth Coleman, an alumna of the firm now at Uber. Partners Megan Poetzel and Alison Stein, Co-Chairs of the firm’s pro bono program, attended on the firm’s behalf, with Megan accepting the award and delivering remarks.
“None of that happens without lawyers willing to be fearless, to take on matters that are hard, and that don't always end in a headline,” Megan said. “It happens because Jenner & Block has never treated pro bono as separate from who we are as a firm.”
Jenner’s pro bono practice spans civil rights and social justice, criminal defense and prisoner rights, asylum and immigration, human trafficking and domestic violence advocacy, and international human rights, alongside transactional support for nonprofits and small businesses serving underserved communities. In 2025, the firm surpassed its five-year, $250 million pro bono commitment by more than $155 million. The American Lawyer has ranked Jenner & Block the No. 1 pro bono firm in the United States 13 times and No. 1 internationally twice.
“We know that we have an impact, and we’ve seen it time and time again," said Alison. "It’s a very significant part of our culture and our values at the firm.”
