Chambers Diversity & Inclusion Names Jenner & Block Outstanding Firm for Pro Bono

Chambers Diversity & Inclusion named Jenner & Block its Outstanding Firm for Pro Bono as part of the Chambers D&I Awards: North America 2021.

The publication noted that the firm has provided more than 1.7 million hours of pro bono service since we started tracking hours nearly three decades ago. Chambers D&I highlighted that the firm also provided 68,742 lawyer pro bono hours in 2020, with 100% of lawyers dedicating more than 20 pro bono hours, for an average of 148 hours per lawyer last year.

Also featured was our pro bono work on the US Supreme Court case McGirt v. Oklahoma, in which we obtained the most significant Native American law decision in a decade that upheld tribal sovereignty across millions of acres of land in Oklahoma. Partner Ian Heath Gershengorn argued the case, and the team included Partner Zachary C. Schauf, Associates Leonard R. PowellAllison M. Tjemsland, and Kathryn L. Wynbrandt.  Senior Paralegal Cheryl Olson provided critical support.

Chambers D&I awarded the firm during a virtual ceremony on June 17. Jenner & Block was among 10 other firms shortlisted in the category earlier this year.
