As Co-Chair of the Organizational Values and Strategy Task Force, Katie helps institutions of higher education and corporate clients address the legal, reputational, and operational challenges associated with diversity and inclusion efforts while remaining true to their mission and values. Katie represents clients in litigation and investigations, and she partners with clients in designing and implementing compliance initiatives on these issues. Katie has significant experience representing higher education clients on matters implicating federal anti-discrimination law—including in the contexts of admissions and scholarships, student discipline, sponsored research, and workforce and supplier diversity efforts—as well as First Amendment issues. These engagements include serving as lead counsel defending a university against allegations under Title VI, Section 1981, and additional causes of action, representing several clients in investigations regarding Students for Fair Admissions compliance, and advising clients on matters raising risk under federal anti-discrimination law and the False Claims Act. In addition, Katie represents government contractors, grant recipients, and nonprofit organizations in litigation and pre-litigation matters related to recent federal actions.

Katie also has broad litigation experience in federal courts, representing clients in matters involving complex constitutional, statutory, and administrative law questions. She advises clients on litigation strategy before suits are filed, and she litigates cases from the pleading stage through appeal.
