Jenner & Block’s Environmental Practice Adds Depth with Stephanie Sebor

(January 11, 2024 - Chicago) Jenner & Block is proud to announce that Stephanie Sebor has joined our Environmental and Workplace Health and Safety Practice as a partner. Stephanie’s broad experience includes representing clients in corporate, litigation, and regulatory matters that touch the environmental sector.

“Clients’ environmental matters often animate a range of issues,” said Co-Managing Partners Katya Jestin and Randy Mehrberg. “From completing transactions with an environmental focus to counseling and litigating on regulatory matters, Stephanie brings a holistic approach that will benefit our clients.”

Stephanie has vast experience in a broad scope of environmental sectors, from air to energy to waste, and the full breadth of environmental legislation, including the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, Endangered Species Act, Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), and Renewable Fuel Standard program. She is a trusted partner for clients who are navigating permits, cleanups, rulemaking comments, and reporting obligations.

On the corporate side, Stephanie helps buyers, sellers, lenders, and borrowers with acquisitions, divestitures, mergers, financings, and securities offerings. In particular, she advises clients on environmental aspects of renewable energy transactions.

As a litigator, she advises clients who face environmental enforcement actions from government agencies and in private party litigation involving contaminated properties.

“We are excited to welcome Stephanie to the team,” said practice Chair Steve Siros. “I’ve known Stephanie as a leader in the Chicago environmental bar for years, and her experience with the full spectrum of environmental laws, regulations, and corporate transactions will be an asset to our clients.”

“I am excited to join a team of dedicated advocates who help clients navigate environmental challenges and opportunities, from the boardroom to the courtroom,” Stephanie said. “Environmental law is rapidly evolving and touches upon so many industries and sectors, including energy and renewables, and I look forward to collaborating with my talented new colleagues across practices at Jenner.”

Stephanie is based in the Chicago office. She earned her JD, summa cum laude, from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2010 and her BS in Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences, with honors, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2007.

Committed to pro bono service, Stephanie assists survivors of domestic violence and advances the rights of disabled students through the Chicago nonprofit Equip for Equality.
