Emma O’Connor assists clients with complex commercial litigation matters before state and federal trial and appellate courts. She has broad exposure to various types of cases and has represented clients in all stages of litigation. She has particular experience representing clients in actions involving claims under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). Additionally, Emma advises clients on internal policies and compliance programs related to the areas of data privacy and labor and employment law.
Emma also maintains a robust pro bono practice, with a focus on constitutional and civil rights. In 2021, she was part of a team that secured the release of a wrongfully convicted client who spent 19 years in prison. Prior to joining the firm, Emma served as a Public Interest Law Initiative fellow with the MacArthur Justice Center.
Emma is a graduate of Northwestern's Pritzker School of Law and Medill School of Journalism. Emma previously clerked in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and worked in the London office of another international law firm.
