Brandon R. Thompson is a Special Counsel in the firm’s Communications, Internet, and Technology Practice where he advises clients at the intersection of regulation and corporate transactions. He draws on substantial experience assisting clients with communications-related regulatory compliance. His Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulatory practice includes radio and satellite licensing, license transfers and assignments, and equipment authorization compliance.

Brandon also advises clients on a broad range of telecommunications matters, including compliance with national security issues related to the Secure Networks Act and “covered” telecommunications and surveillance equipment; compliance with the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the STIR/SHAKEN framework, emergency alert, and E911 rules as well as customer proprietary network information (CPNI) rules. He has also guided clients to more than $20 million in federal telecommunications-related grants.

Prior to joining the firm, Brandon was a lawyer in the Attorney Honors Program in the Federal Communications Commission’s Enforcement Bureau, where he led numerous TCPA and Truth in Caller ID Act enforcement actions in coordination with state attorneys general and the US Department of Justice.

  • Advised Microsoft in the negotiation of connectivity, communications, and technology services agreements with a broad range of domestic and international carriers and service providers, covering network access, messaging, and cloud communications infrastructure.*
  • Represented Amazon in telecom-related litigation involving antitrust claims and network services disputes, as well as in the negotiation of a device and network purchase agreement with a major national wireless carrier.*
  • Advised CoreWeave in the negotiation of an extensive portfolio of fiber and network infrastructure agreements with domestic and international providers to support data center operations and AI computing capacity.*
  • Represented 7-Eleven in a payment dispute with a major telecommunications carrier arising from commercial services agreements supporting the company's retail and point-of-sale communications network.*
  • Advised HMD Global and Telnyx in FCC enforcement matters, providing regulatory counsel on compliance obligations and agency proceedings.*
