Axel J.Hufford

Axel Hufford is an associate in Jenner & Block’s Appellate Practice. He litigates constitutional and administrative law questions in high-stakes matters before the US Supreme Court, federal courts of appeals, federal district courts, and state courts, with a particular focus on election law, the separation of powers, and the First Amendment. He represents and advises higher education institutions and nonprofit organizations, including voting rights and environmental advocacy groups.

Prior to joining the firm, Axel clerked for the Honorable Alison J. Nathan of the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the Honorable Ronnie Abrams of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.

He received his JD from Stanford Law School, where he worked as a fall extern for the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund (LDF) and summer legal fellow for the Civil Rights Bureau of the New York State Office of the Attorney General.

Before law school, Axel was a high school English teacher in Samcheonpo, South Korea, through the Fulbright Program. He started his career as a business analyst within Deloitte Consulting’s government and public services practice group. Axel earned his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College in 2016 with a BA in Government and Asian and Middle Eastern Studies.
