Partner Alison Stein Named Among Hollywood’s Top 100 Attorneys

The Hollywood Reporter recognized Jenner & Block Partner Alison I. Stein in “Power Lawyers 2022,” its list of the top 100 lawyers in Hollywood. The publication underscored Ms. Stein’s recent work for ViacomCBS in a $100 million trademark dispute over the title of the MTV reality show “MTV Floribama Shore.” On September 22, 2021, a federal judge dismissed the case, writing that ViacomCBS’s First Amendment right to title its expressive work outweighed the plaintiffs’ rights under the Lanham Act. The feature also notes Ms. Stein’s antipiracy victory for Nintendo, and other IP and content moderation work. Amid concerns of social media censorship, she tells THR there needs to be “recognition that some moderation on some types of speech is necessary.”

Ms. Stein is co-chair of Jenner & Block’s nationally recognized Content, Media, and Entertainment Practice. Her practice focuses on intellectual property counseling and litigation. She represents clients on matters involving content protection, copyright infringement, content moderation, licensing negotiations and transactions, clearance work, DMCA, trademark enforcement, trade secrets, unfair competition, defamation, entertainment litigation, and contractual disputes.
