Susan Kohlmann Elected President of New York City Bar Association

The New York City Bar Association has elected Jenner & Block Partner Susan J. Kohlmann as its 70th president.
Ms. Kohlmann is a litigator in Jenner & Block’s Content, Media, and Entertainment Practice; co-chair of its Trademark, Advertising and Unfair Competition Practice; a member of the Policy Committee, the firm’s governing body; chair of the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee; and a member of its Pro Bono Committee. In addition to her extensive experience in trials and arbitration proceedings, she has broad experience briefing and arguing appeals in the New York appellate courts and federal circuit courts.
At the City Bar, Ms. Kohlmann recently completed a one-year term as a vice president. She has served as chair of its Women in the Legal Profession Committee and its Committee on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and as a member of its Nominating, Pro Bono and Legal Services, Lawyer’s Quality of Life, and Stimson Medal Committees.
Ms. Kohlmann maintains an active pro bono practice in areas including reproductive rights and veterans’ rights. She serves as chair of New York Lawyers for the Public Interest and is a past chair and board member of Legal Services NYC.
In accepting the position at the association’s annual meeting on May 17, Ms. Kohlmann noted the tremendous 150-year history of the association and its fight for the rule of law and in promoting greater access to justice. The New York City Bar Association has approximately 24,000 members and is one of the most active and vocal attorney groups. Read the NYCBA’s press release here.
