Jenner & Block Names New Co-Chairs in Three Practice Areas

Diverse, Cross-Office Elevations Bolster Key Groups

CHICAGO, NEW YORK, LONDON, and LOS ANGELES – May 12, 2022 Jenner & Block elevated seven partners to leadership positions in the firm‘s Corporate; Data Privacy and Cybersecurity; and Professional Responsibility practices.

Data Privacy and Cybersecurity
Partner Shoba Pillay joins Partners David Bitkower and Madeleine V. Findley as a co-chair of the Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice. Ms. Pillay’s appointment follows the addition of Partners Aaron Cooper and Shreve Ariail to the practice over the last 18 months. The team provides full-service support to clients, including helping them develop a secure legal framework for the data they collect, use, analyze, and share, as well as helping them investigate and respond to threats to their data.

Ms. Pillay served as a federal prosecutor for more than 11 years in the US Attorney’s Office in the Northern District of Illinois, where she developed sgnificant experience supervising and managing complex investigations, trials, and appeals involving sophisticated cybercrime, export control and international sanctions violations, theft of trade secrets, terrorism, espionage, and foreigh influence threats, among other national security risks. She leverages this experience when advising clients on mitigating and responding to cybersecurity risks, including managing and navigating the aftermath of cybersecurity incidents. She is based in Chicago.

Corporate 
Partners Martin C. Glass, Anna Meresidis, Edward L. Prokop, and Peter H. Rosenbaum join Partner Joseph P. Gromacki as co-chairs of the firm’s Corporate Practice. Together, they will lead a team that represents Fortune 500 companies, emerging companies, private equity companies, hedge funds, and closely held businesses in mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, capital markets and securities matters, corporate finance transactions, and board counseling in corporate governance and related matters.

Mr. Glass counsels US and foreign companies in transactional matters, including public and private mergers and acquisitions and public securities offerings. Ms. Meresidis is a trusted advisor to companies in complex finance transactions that support their growth, innovation, and investment strategies. Mr. Prokop advises clients in domestic and cross-border public and private mergers and acquisitions and also regularly counsels clients on corporate governance, fiduciary and ethics matters. Mr. Rosenbaum structures and negotiates complex strategic transactions, particularly in the aerospace and defense industry and the infrastructure and transportation industries. Ms. Meresidis and Mr. Rosenbaum are based in Chicago, while Mr. Glass and Mr. Prokop are based in New York.

Professional Responsibility
Partners April A. Otterberg and Kirsten Hicks Spira join Michael McNamara and John R. Storino as co-chairs of the Professional Responsibility Practice. The practice group counsels and defends law firms and lawyers around the country who are facing legal malpractice and other professional liability claims, sanctions and disqualification motions, or allegations of ethical violations.

Ms. Otterberg defends lawyers, law firms, and other professionals in complex professional liability disputes, with a focus on defending claims of aiding and abetting arising from Ponzi or other fraudulent schemes. She also currently chairs the Illinois State Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Professional Conduct.  Ms. Spira is an experienced trial lawyer who represents law firms in some of their most complex matters, including employment and discrimination claims. She is certified by the California State Bar as a specialist in legal malpractice law and currently chairs the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Professional Responsibility and Ethics Committee. Ms. Otterberg is based in Chicago, and Ms. Spira is based in Los Angeles.
