Jenner & Block Expands London Footprint

Move to Broadgate’s Exchange Square Will Accommodate Continued Growth

LONDON – 2nd March, 2022 International law firm Jenner & Block has signed a lease to move its growing London team to expanded premises in 2022. The move is part of a strategic commitment to further growth in London.

The firm has agreed a lease on 13,000 square feet of offices at 10 Exchange Square in Broadgate, an increase of 45 percent on its existing space at Tower 42. The lease also comes with an option for additional floorspace after five years.

“Expanding our presence in London is one of the firm’s long-term strategic growth priorities,” said Co-Managing Partners Katya Jestin and Randy Mehrberg. “This move is a mark of the confidence we have in our London lawyers, the phenomenal services they provide, and the continued growth we expect in coming years.”

Jenner & Block opened its London office in 2015 with just two lawyers, and since then it has grown to more than 20 fee earners, specialising in complex commercial litigation, international arbitration, and investigations and white collar defence. The firm acts on behalf of high-profile clients in the financial services, energy, natural resources, infrastructure, defence, technology, and telecommunications sectors.

“We have outgrown our existing space and need further room to grow in the future,” said Charlie Lightfoot, the managing partner of the London office. “We continue to focus on a combination of targeted lateral recruitment and organically building and nurturing our younger lawyers,” he said.

Also based in London are Partners Christine Braamskamp, Robert Dalling, Elizabeth Shimmin, Wade Thomson, Christian Tuddenham, and Jason Yardley.

“Our new location at 10 Exchange Square will provide the base we need as we grow and expand our services for our clients,” said Mr. Yardley, who has led the search for the new space.

In addition to their commercial work, the London-based lawyers contribute significantly to the firm’s pro bono initiatives, such as their recent efforts to help at-risk individuals leave Afghanistan safely.

In 2021, Jenner & Block opened an office in San Francisco to further support clients in Northern California, which include some of the world’s largest technology companies. The firm also recently moved to new offices in Los Angeles, renewed its lease on its headquarters in Chicago, and is moving to new offices in New York.
