Jenner & Block Bolsters Growing Telecom Practice with Additions

Industry leading telecom technology expert, associates follow Trey Hanbury to Jenner & Block's growing Communications, Internet, and Technology Practice

WASHINGTON, DC – May 9, 2022 – Jenner & Block today announced the addition of Senior Technical Advisor Tom Peters, an engineer with 30 years of expertise in wireless system design, international standards-setting, satellite technology, and spectrum policy to the firm’s growing Communications, Internet, and Technology Practice. Mr. Peters, the firm’s first senior technical advisor, is joining the firm along with two telecom associates and follows the arrival in January of Partner Trey Hanbury.

“We are delighted to welcome Tom to our top-ranked Communications, Internet, and Technology Practice,” said Co-Managing Partners Katya Jestin and Randy Mehrberg. “Jenner & Block is at the forefront of the telecommunications regulatory space and these additions strengthen our capabilities to support the biggest clients in this area.”

Mr. Peters will work closely with Mr. Hanbury and other partners to provide counsel on regulatory advocacy and policymaking before the FCC, mergers and acquisitions, competition policy, interference resolution, spectrum allocations, network resiliency, and auction design.

Mr. Peters, who is joining Jenner & Block from another global law firm, has vast experience at the intersection of telecommunications technology and regulatory policy. Previously, Mr. Peters served as Chief Engineer at the Federal Communications Commission’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau and at Sprint Nextel, where he was Director of Technology Evaluation and Research.

“Tom is an industry leader and his skillset is invaluable to our practice,” said Mr. Hanbury, a co-chair of the Communications, Internet, and Technology Practice. “It is difficult for lawyers to be effective in the telecommunications regulatory space without technical expertise. Tom will be a key component to the continued expansion of Jenner & Block’s industry-leading CIT practice and I’m delighted to be working with him again.”

Mr. Peters earned his BS in Aerospace Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

“I am delighted to join Jenner & Block and look forward to helping the firm’s clients navigate the complex technical issues inherent to telecommunications and satellite policy,” Mr. Peters said.

Mr. Peters will be accompanied in his move to Jenner & Block by Associates Max Staloff and Christina Isnardi, who have also joined from another global firm. Mr. Staloff earned his JD from Georgetown University and Ms. Isnardi earned her JD from Columbia Law School.
