First Quarterly Webinar: US, EU, and UK Sanctions in Response to Russia’s War on Ukraine, American Conference Institute’s Women in Sanctions Network On March 1, Partner Rachel Alpert and Senior Associate Karam Jardaneh will lead an American Conference Institute webinar on the intersecting sanctions regimes that have been implemented against Russia. They will explain how the US, EU, and UK regimes relate to one another, and what they mean for companies with business activities inside and outside Russia, as well as those exiting the region. The webinar is open to members of ACI’s Women in Sanctions Network. Companies around the world turn to Rachel when they need a forward-thinking and tactical lawyer who can help them address US sanctions, export controls, and human rights risks and obligations. She previously spent seven years as an Attorney-Adviser at the State Department under four Secretaries of State and two US Presidents. This experience equipped Rachel with a talent for advising policymakers on complicated international issues and guiding companies through significant sanctions, human rights, and CFIUS matters. She serves as a Co-Chair of the firm’s National Security, Sanctions, and Export Controls; Human Rights and Global Strategy; and ESG Practices. Karam assists corporate, institutional, and individual clients on a variety of white-collar crime matters. Karam helps clients navigate complex anti-bribery and corruption, anti-money laundering, and sanctions-related issues. She also guides clients in relation to the continuously evolving laws relating to human rights and ESG more generally.
