Among other engagements, he serves as lead counsel to the Court-appointed Monitor of the United Auto Workers (UAW) and the director of stakeholder engagement for the monitorship over the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA). Michael also has co-authored the Introduction to Global Investigation Review’s (GIR) fourth edition of The Guide to Monitorships, which outlines the historical routes and recent practices around modern-day monitorships.

Michael maintains an active pro bono practice and serves as the New York Co-Chair of the firm’s Pro Bono Committee. He regularly represents clients in 1983 claims in federal court, including obtaining a six-figure settlement for a client who was repeatedly arrested wrongly based on erroneous warrant data. And in almost two decades of pro bono immigration work, Michael has helped more than a dozen children remain safely in the United States based on successful claims of asylum or other forms of relief. He serves as a board member of the City Bar Fund, a trustee of the Luria Academy of Brooklyn, and is a past board member of Literacy, Inc.
