Sarah Licht is a Special Counsel in the firm’s Antitrust and Competition Law Practice where she advises clients on complex civil and criminal antitrust matters, government merger investigations, and antitrust litigation. She brings a rigorous, trial-tested perspective to her work, informed by more than a decade of antitrust experience in and out of government. Sarah spent almost seven years as a trial attorney at the US Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division, including three years as assistant section chief in the Financial Services, Fintech, and Banking Section (FFB).
As assistant section chief of the FFB section, Sarah guided the litigation strategy from pre-complaint investigation through trial for some of the Division’s most consequential matters, including United States et al v. Live Nation. During the United States v. Bertelsmann et al litigation—the government’s successful challenge to the proposed acquisition of Simon & Schuster by Penguin Random House—Sarah led the pre-complaint merger investigation and served as Chief of Staff throughout the litigation.
Sarah has considerable experience managing large teams, coordinating discovery across large groups, coordinating with state attorneys general, and working closely with economists. She was twice awarded the Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service, as well as the Attorney General’s John Marshall Award, for her work pursuing Antitrust Division matters.
