Sunny received her JD from Harvard Law School, where she was an Executive Director of the Prison Legal Assistance Project. Through the Prison Legal Assistance Project, Sunny represented incarcerated clients in disciplinary hearings and parole hearings. In law school, Sunny also participated in the Family Justice Clinic, in which she advised clients navigating divorce and child custody proceedings, and a clinical externship program with the US Attorney's Office for the District of Massachusetts in the Appeals Unit.
Prior to law school, Sunny was a paralegal at the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York.
