Matt Gordon assists organizations in tackling their most important matters—from high-stakes commercial disputes to sensitive internal investigations to responding to government inquiries. Matt has extensive experience partnering with clients across a variety of industries to navigate complex litigation, investigations and compliance risk assessments. He has played a key role on trial teams litigating everything from breach of contract and tort claims stemming from the sale and securitization of mortgage loans to post-conviction matters involving coerced, false confessions.
Matt has also built a robust monitorship practice, most recently serving in a key leadership role supporting the Court-appointed Monitor of the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (United Auto Workers), tasked with the duty to remove fraud, corruption and illegality from within the UAW, oversee the Union’s elections and overhaul its compliance and control functions, pursuant to a Consent Decree.
Prior to joining Jenner & Block, Matt received his BA, Phi Beta Kappa, and with highest distinction and high honors, from the University of Michigan in 2011. He received his JD, cum laude, from Northwestern University School of Law in 2015, where he served as coordinating comment editor of the Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology. Prior to entering law school, Matt was a 2011-12 City Year corps member, working as a team leader at a high school in Detroit, Michigan.
