Kate Abendroth helps clients achieve their goals across highly-regulated industries in many different forums. In her telecommunications work, Kate supports clients in both FCC and state PUC proceedings from initial filings through discovery and final disposition. In complex transactions requiring multi-state regulatory approvals, Kate uses her research and litigation skills to help clients develop a nationwide strategy to navigate regulatory requirements and any associated adjudications.
Kate also counsels clients on energy matters and has experience with the Federal Power Act, Interstate Commerce Act, the Inflation Reduction Act, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the Administrative Procedure Act, the Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, as well as a wide array of supporting rules and regulations. She has defended against FERC enforcement, secured power generation licenses, and advocated for the adoption of client positions in agency rulemakings.
Kate maintains an active pro bono litigation practice. Currently she is leading a team on a high-profile reproductive rights case. Recently, she obtained a pre-summary judgment dismissal for a client in a politically motivated Title VII reverse discrimination case. She also secured compassionate release for an incarcerated client who suffered sexual abuse by Bureau of Prisons officials.
Before joining Jenner, Kate clerked for the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court for the United States Virgin Islands.
