On December 18, Jenner & Block secured a landmark jury verdict of $394,424,138 for clients Consumers Energy Company and DTE Electric Company in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, representing what is believed to be the largest civil jury verdict in Michigan history.

In a unanimous opinion delivered by Justice O'Brien, the Illinois Supreme Court affirmed that the Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR) has exclusive jurisdiction over sales tax misallocation disputes between municipalities. The Court reversed the First District Appellate Court's decision and affirmed the circuit court's dismissal of the Village of Arlington Heights' complaint for lack of subject-matter jurisdiction.

On October 3, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit found that the delegation provisions of MobiLoans, LLC’s arbitration agreements are enforceable in a dispute with two borrowers. MobiLoans, LLC is owned and operated by the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana. 

On August 4, a team of Jenner & Block lawyers secured a win in the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit on behalf of firm client KFC (part of Yum! Brands, Inc.). The Tenth Circuit reversed an adverse jury verdict and ordered that judgment be entered for KFC. The case concerned a challenge to the way that KFC licenses new restaurants.
