Jenner & Block Partners Elizabeth Edmondson and Joanna Wright have been named to Crain’s New York Business’ 2025 “Notable Litigators and Trial Attorneys” list. The annual list recognizes “the litigators and trial attorneys who ensure access to the civil justice system and further commercial activity in the region.” According to the publication, the honorees “are a talented cohort, shaping precedent and advocating for their clients across industries and issues.”
Elizabeth counsels leading aerospace, energy, and technology companies, among others, through complex commercial disputes. As Chair of Jenner & Block’s International Arbitration Practice, Elizabeth blends trial advocacy skills with an understanding of the nuances of arbitration.
For the past eight years, Elizabeth Edmondson has represented Covanta (now ReWorld) in a whistleblower lawsuit under the New York False Claims Act seeking a nine-figure recovery. In 2024, following extensive fact and expert discovery, her team won summary judgment on almost all claims. Edmondson also represented Amtrak in an eminent domain case where the owner sought more than $600 million in compensation for property Amtrak took to build the Hudson Tunnel. Her team won a motion reducing the owner’s potential recovery by more than $150 million.
A nationally recognized litigator, advisor, and trial lawyer, Joanna has deep experience in complex civil litigation, having handled nearly every kind of high-stakes dispute. As a trial lawyer, Joanna has extensive experience representing companies and individuals in the courtroom. She is also a highly skilled crisis manager, regularly called upon by Fortune 100 companies who told Chambers they rely on her “responsive no-nonsense advice” dispensed while “navigating difficult circumstances to get to the right result.” Her clients include companies, officers, and directors in diverse sectors, including consumer goods, chemicals, energy, technology, and financial services.
Most recently, Joanna negotiated and achieved a global settlement of the Combat Arms Earplug litigation for $6.01 billion, resolving more than 290,000 product liability cases for 3M in the largest multidistrict litigation in history. Joanna is overseeing the case’s implementation and final resolution. As part of that resolution, she successfully argued for an application of Section 3(a)(10) of the Securities Laws permitting the use of $1 billion in securities.
