Jenner & Block Partner Sarah F. Weiss has been selected as a member of Leadership Greater Chicago’s prestigious Signature Fellows Program. She is among only 50 individuals chosen to join the 2022 class.
Over the course of the 10-month program, starting in September, participants will be immersed in key socioeconomic issues facing the Chicago area through experiential learning including full-day seminars, community site visits, discussion groups, conversations with subject matter experts, and cultural events. They will learn through interactions with private, public, and nonprofit decision makers, and work as a group to develop critical thinking, analytical, governance, and leadership skills.
“The 2022 class will commence following more than a year of unrest in our country where we faced continued social injustice followed by the largest anti-racism movement in our history, all during a global pandemic,” said Maria Wynne, LGC chief executive officer, in a press release.
“Developing civic leaders is critical today in achieving equity in our criminal justice, healthcare, and education systems, and in the workforce. We are grateful for the support of the many sponsors who nominated these outstanding individuals and believe in their ability to change the world. We look forward to the contributions of these leaders to ensure an inclusive future for all who call Chicago home.”
Ms. Weiss is a partner in the Investigations, Compliance and Defense Practice. She has extensive experience in federal, state, and local government investigations in a variety of areas, including matters involving alleged money laundering, fraud, bribery/Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violations, kickbacks, and environmental violations. She has led pre-trial and post-conviction teams and defended individuals in the Cook County Circuit Court – Criminal Division in nearly twenty cases, including three homicide cases, one attempted murder case, and several other serious felonies.
Other Jenner & Block lawyers who have been selected for this program include Partners Debbie L. Berman, Keri L. Holleb Hotaling, Precious Jacobs-Perry, Melissa M. Root, John R. Storino, Wade A. Thomson, and Andrew W. Vail.
